Andrew Swatkovsky passed away at home on January 17, 2026, with his wife, Pamela, by his side.
Born January 19, 1932, in London, England, Andy became a naturalized American citizen in 1939 and grew up on Long Island and in New York City. He was educated at Collegiate School, Cornell University, and Columbia University, where he earned his Ph.D. He served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant and Army Ranger, worked for the National Academy of Sciences, and taught Russian Studies at Norwich University and Colgate University.
Andy volunteered for many years at CAVAC and was highly respected as an antiques dealer and real estate broker. He was also an avid gardener, reader, and chess player, and especially enjoyed playing chess with his close friend, Hugh Humphries.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Anita Corning Iglehart; his son, Richard Swatkovsky; and his step-daughter, Deborah Schutzendorf Gregg.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Watt Blom; his daughter, Christine Swatkovsky; his step- daughter, Jennifer Hooley (Chip); step-grandchildren Pamela Rich (Johnny) and Holland Townsend; and two step-great-grandchildren.
