Barbara P. Favro, formerly of Glens Falls and Cazenovia, NY, passed away peacefully September 18, 2026, at The Home of the Good Shepherd Memory Care in Saratoga Springs, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was 94 years old.

       Born on May 14, 1932, and raised on the family farm in Canton, NY, Barbara was the daughter of the late Harold Phalon and Beth Phalon Gibbo. She was a woman whose life was defined by her devotion to her family, friends, community, and the many people whose lives she touched.

       Barbara married the love of her life, Gerald K. Favro, on June 15, 1957. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage and raised their family in Cazenovia, NY with love, devotion, and strong family values. Gerry passed away on January 25, 2020.

       During her school years, Barbara worked summers in Alexandria Bay, NY, and the Lake Placid Club. She met Gerry in Lake Placid while working at the Club as a Relish and Roll girl in the Children’s Dining Room. After graduating from Central City Business Institute in Syracuse NY, she worked for five years as an Executive Secretary at Carrier Appliance Company. She loved living at Brick House where she became life-long friends with the young single working women who boarded there. They traveled together on vacations to Bar Harbor, ME, ski trips to Stowe, VT and enjoyed going out to listen to live music, including the Stan Colella Orchestra.

       Barbara was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cazenovia and participated as an Elder and in the Alice Edwards Circle. She and Gerry were also very active in the Cazenovia and Central New York Rotary, where they devoted considerable time and energy to the Rotary Foreign Exchange Student Program. Barbara played an integral role in welcoming and supporting foreign exchange students from around the world, making them feel at home in the community. In recognition of her dedication and service, she received the prestigious Paul Harris Award. Barb also served as a Girl Scout leader for many years and was active with the Welcome Wagon and Community Chest in Cazenovia. Barbara worked as a salesclerk for The Cheshire Cat in Cazenovia. She took pride in her work and enjoyed meeting new people.

       A talented artist in high school, Barbara took up watercolor painting in her 70’s. She had a special gift for capturing the beauty of nature in her landscapes, especially her beautiful skies and clouds. For 10 years, she was an active member of the Cazenovia Watercolor Society. Her creativity extended to knitting beautiful garments and sewing. One of her favorite Christmas gifts from Gerry was a box with a pattern, fabric, and all the notions he chose for her to sew something special for herself. Reading, gardening, baking, traveling and connecting with friends were special joys for her.

       While Barbara accomplished much throughout her life, she will be remembered most of all for the love she gave to her family and friends. She was a devoted and loving mother who cherished her children and took great pride in the people they became. They were at the center of her life, and she was always there with encouragement, guidance, and most importantly, unconditional love. The friends she and Gerry cultivated through many years at Toggenburg became extended family. This was also true of the connections they made with their neighbors on upper Burton Street. Their home was welcoming and every neighbor, young or old, became a good friend.

       Her greatest joy was found simply in being together as a family. Birthday celebrations, the holidays and 35 years of annual vacations to New Harbor, ME were always a highlight. Barbara was proud of her grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them, share stories, laugh, and watch them grow.

       Barbara was much more than a mother and grandmother. She was a source of strength, comfort, wisdom, and love. Her kindness, curiosity, gentle spirit, sense of humor, and ability to make those around her feel special created memories that will remain in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed, and the love she gave so freely, will live on through her children, grandchildren, and the many lives she touched.

       Barbara is survived by her children, Thomas B. Favro of North Clarendon, VT, and his partner Mandy Courtwright; Mary Alice Favro of St. George, VT, and her husband, Steve Faust; Judy B. Favro of Ipswich, MA, and her husband, Scott Jeffery; and Holly Veiders of Glens Falls, NY, and her husband, Chris, and her grandchildren, Sara Faust and partner, Jim Laffin, of Burnham, ME; and Eli Favro of Missoula, MT. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Favro of Canton, NY; sister-in-law, Patti Skeels and her husband, Dick, of Lake Placid, NY; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

       Her family extends their thanks and love to Gwynne VanScoy, mom’s faithful friend and caregiver of many years and the loving staff at The Home of the Good Shepherd Memory Care in Saratoga. Mom’s final years were enriched by these good people.

       A memorial gathering will be held on September 27, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus on 50 Pine Road in Saratoga Springs. A memorial service and reception will be held in Cazenovia at the First Presbyterian Church in late December.
