Carolyn McFarland, 88, of Delhi, passed peacefully on January 18, 2014 of natural causes. She was born on January 14, 1926, in Glens Falls, the daughter of Nelson and Eveleen Pratt, and grew up in Cossayuna, NY. After graduating from Cornell University in 1947, she moved to Delhi for a position as a Cooperative Extension home demonstration agent. She later earned a Master's degree from SUNY Oneonta and taught sixth grade at South Kortright Central School for many years. She married Donald McFarland in 1948 and enjoyed a happy marriage until his passing in 1988. In retirement, she traveled the world with her family and friends and enjoyed quilting and reading. She survived by three sons, Bruce (Estela) of Burke, Virginia, Wayne (Pamela) of Cazenovia, NY and Dan (Michele) of York, Pennsylvania, and her grandchildren, Steven (Anne), Andrew (Kelly), Claire, Timothy, and Megan. Carolyn McFarland will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend to all. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in her honor may be made to the United Ministry in Delhi.
