David F. Goyer, 96, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, August 21, 2026. David was born February 17, 1930 in Hartford, Connecticut to Andrew and Cecilia Castonguay Goyer. He attended the University of Connecticut and was drafted into the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, David finished college and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1955. He was initially employed with G.L.F. (Grange League Federation) which later became Agway. David was employed with Agway for 32 years as an engineer and retired as a buyer in the Farm Mechanical Equipment Purchasing Department in 1987. He served on the Agricultural Engineering Advisory Committee at S.U.N.Y. Cobleskill from 1962 until 1971. David was a communicant of St. James Church in Cazenovia and Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville. He was a member of the American Legion Post #88, Cazenovia. Upon his retirement David and his wife, Jean traveled extensively with their camper throughout the United States and then abroad throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand. They enjoyed spending their winters in Northport, Florida.
David is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jean; their children, Gail (Douglas) Carmichel of DeWitt, Susan (Robert) Foringer of Maine, Linda (Richard) Coles of Chelmsford, MA, Nancy (Ted) Cooper of Fulton, David (Rebecca) Goyer of Cazenovia and Carol (Mark) Swanson of Florida; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Dr. Robert Goyer and John Goyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2026 at St. James Church, 6 Green Street in Cazenovia. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
