David A Smith, 82, of Fairmount, New York passed away peacefully Monday, April 6, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. He was a beloved husband, father, and friend born in Syracuse, New York to the late James D. and Marion (Howard) Smith. He was predeceased by his wife and best friend of 53 years, Marilyn (Clark) Smith, who he met while they were both were working at Brink’s.

       David was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served on the aircraft carrier USS Shangri LA. He worked hard to advance to the position of Exalted Ruler at the Camillus Elks Lodge #31 and happily worked as a truck driver retiring from the United States Postal Service. David loved to travel and went on many cruises, train and road trips with his wife.

       He will be deeply missed and forever loved. David is survived by his children, David A. Smith, Roseanne I. (Smith) Jones, Kim Smith and Kelly Smith; his grandchildren, Justin D. Smith, Maggie Jones and Brad Jones.
