Obituary

David R. Stevens, 68, of Cazenovia, passed away Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. He was born in Cambria, Pennsylvania, a son to Herbert E. and Dorothy M. Stevens and was a life resident of the Cazenovia area. David graduated from Cazenovia High School in 1966 and was drafted into the US Army where he served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. He worked for Bill Magee and Magee's Auction Service for 40 years. In the mid 1980's to the mid 1990's, Dave co-owned the D & L Tavern in New Woodstock. He was a former member of the Erieville Fire Department and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert E. Stevens. David is survived by his two daughters, Christina M. (Joseph) Deyo of Erieville and Kimberly (Gilbert) Hodges of Cazenovia; his mother, Dorothy M. Stevens of Cazenovia; three sisters, Margaret (Joseph) St. Pierre of Erieville, Arlene (Don) Walker of Cocoa Beach, FL and Carol (David) Morency of Cazenovia; one brother, William (Colleen) Stevens of Melbourne, FL; three grandchildren, Jessica Deyo, Amber Deyo and Brice Hodges as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2016 at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Rd., Cazenovia. There are no services, burial will be private. Contributions in memory of Mr. Stevens may be made to the Syracuse V.A. Medical Center, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210.
