Dorothy M. Waite Dennin, 97, of Eaton passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026 at The Cottages at Garden Grove in Cicero. She was born October 8, 1928 in New Woodstock to Glenn A. and Barbara M. Coats. Dorothy was a waitress at Albert’s Restaurant for 32 ½ years, where she became a familiar and friendly face to many. During that time, she cleaned houses for several families in the Cazenovia area.
Dorothy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially reading, embroidery, playing board games, cards and dominos. She cherished the time spent with her family, friends and enjoyed the companionship that came with these activities. Dorothy was a communicant of St. James Church and was a women who will be remembered for the lives she touched throughout the years.
She is survived by her children, Janice (Edward) Walters of DeRuyter, Martha Rice of Eaton, Trudy (Armin Montalvo) Zdybel of East Syracuse, Ernest (Valerie) Waite of Georgetown and Gerald (Laurie Winn) Waite of Oneida; 19 grandchildren, Mark, Edward, Leroy, Amanda, Quinn, Shane, Jody, Jessica, Jacob, Douglas, Michael, Melissa, Kimberly, Amy, David, Brandi, Jason, Jaymie and Tommy; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband, Ernest Waite; her daughters, Ginger Sue Waite and Bonnie Brown; her son, Wayne Wilcox and by her second husband, Jack “John” Dennin.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026 with services to follow at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road in Cazenovia. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Cazenovia. Contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to The Mustard Seed, c/o St. James Church, 6 Green St., Cazenovia, NY 13035 or to The Cottages at Garden Grove, 5460 Meltzer Court, Cicero, NY 13039.
