Dorothy V. Gerner, 66, of Erieville passed away Friday at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville after a courageous nine year battle with Wegener's Granulomatosis. Dorothy was born and raised in Farmingdale Long Island and was a graduate of SUNY Farmingdale. She later moved to Ithaca where she worked as a Dental Hygienist. She loved animals, had a passion for her gardens and irises. Dorothy was a loving mother and grandmother. She lived a full life and truly enjoyed spending every day with her grandchildren. Her smile, laugh and sense of humor will never be forgotten. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents George J. and Dorothy F. Gerner. She is survived by her daughter Brenda (James) Sparks of Erieville; her brother George (Betsy) Gerner of Vestal, NY; her grandchildren, Christopher and Samantha; her nephews George and Colin and niece, Kelly. Calling hours will be held from 3-5pm Saturday, March 8th, with a service to follow at Tait Funeral Home, Inc., 2333 Fenner Road in Cazenovia. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Dorothy's family would like to thank CAVAC, Erieville Fire Department and Iroquois Nursing Home for their loving care all these years and especially in her last days.
