Dr. Robert Charles Blanchet, beloved husband, father, son, brother, neighbor, and loyal friend passed away on Friday April 17, 2026. He was surrounded by loved ones swapping stories, singing silly songs, and sharing their love for him. Cancer may have given Rob a shorter run than he deserved, but he made sure to always live his life at ludicrous speed!!!

Rob was born in Clifton Park, NY in 1979. He graduated from Shenendehowa High School where he was a standout wrestler. In college, Rob met the love of his life, Kimberly, and they were married in 2008. They eventually settled in beautiful (but really snowy) Cazenovia, New York and raised their two amazing children, Logan and Clara.

Rob can best be described as a strong and stubborn fighter who tackled every challenge life threw at him head on. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport, where he also found his lifelong friend/mentor/legend Scott. While there, he was a beloved member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and his beer pong talents were well known. His taste matured over the years and he developed a love of good Scotch. Rob went on to earn his Ed.D. from St. John Fisher College. He was honored to be nominated by his peers to give the class speech at commencement.

Rob’s persona was always to be the life of the party. He especially enjoyed hiking, boating, and taking special trips with the “camping crew” that ranged from Maine’s Cadillac Mountain to North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Rob and his family hiked to many of NY’s Fire Towers together and have the extensive log to prove it. He travelled all throughout the country on getaways with his siblings, several “last great” family vacations, and pilgrimages to support his favorite team, the Buffalo Bills. Any day Rob spent on Lake Winnipesaukee’s Jolly Island was a good day.

Whether at home or work, Rob made life FUN! He loved his role as head cheerleader and videographer for Logan and Clara. Rob’s cheers from behind the camera are ever-present in videos of soccer games, concerts, gymnastics meets and dance recitals. He and Kim encouraged Logan and Clara to live life to the fullest every day and they led by example.

Rob is survived by his wife Kimberly; his children, Logan and Clara; his parents, Joy and David; his sister, Beth and her husband Tim; his brother, Zachary and his partner Kristen; his nieces and nephew; his in-laws, and an extensive extended family. He is also survived by his beloved pets Cooper, Jasper and Oliver.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at St. James Church, 6 Green Street, Cazenovia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 23, 2026 at St. James Church with interment to follow in St. James Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either The 529 college funds for Logan and Clara, payable to “Kimberly Blanchet”, c/o Community Bank, 48 Albany Street, Cazenovia, NY 13035-1242 or in memory of Robert Blanchet to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute online at dana-farber.org/gift.
