Obituary

Edward J. Weinheimer, 88, of Cazenovia, NY, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Born and raised in Syracuse, Ed was the youngest of the 11 children of Fred and Josephine Weinheimer, Syracuse. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and Syracuse University, where he received both his bachelor's and master's degrees. Following his service in the U.S. Navy, he married Dorothy Coyle of Syracuse and raised five children. A loving and devoted husband and father, Ed worked for General Electric in Syracuse for 35 years, before starting his own human resources consulting firm. Throughout the 1970s, Ed and his two brothers, Don and Bob, owned and operated the Wolf Hollow Racquet Club. In 1972, he moved to Cazenovia, where he fulfilled his lifelong dream, of owning a hobby farm. He was an avid barber shopper and antique car enthusiast. He was preceded in death by Dorothy, his wife of 52 years, and is survived by his children Dorie (Michael) Geraci; Edward J. Weinheimer, Jr.; Karol (Bob) Augspurger; Joseph (Sue) Weinheimer; and Eric (Tina) Weinheimer; as well as 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday at St. James Church, 6 Green Street Cazenovia. The family will receive following the Mass in the parish hall. The rite of Committal will take place in St. Mary's Mausoleum.
