Edwin F. “Ed” Bassler, 84, of Cazenovia, New York, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born on February 19, 1942, in Cherry Valley, New York, he was the son of John and Caroline Bassler.

He attended CCBI and went on to build a career spanning more than 45 years as an electrical manufacturer’s representative in the commercial and industrial sector. In 1993, he founded EF Bassler Sales, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Ed lived a full and generous life. He loved spending time with friends and family and faithfully served in many roles at St. James Church. Ed was known for his warm smile and his wonderful singing voice. Having played the trumpet in a variety of bands in his youth, he carried that musicality throughout his life and had a beautiful and wide vocal range. He shared this gift most deeply in church, where his love and faith in the Lord could be heard by all.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished holidays and time spent with loved ones. To his family, he embodied the spirit of Christmas and the joy of summertime fun.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maureen (Doyle); his son, Edwin (Michele) and their children, Eddie and Grace; his son, Kevin (Amy) and their children, Liam and Daniel; and his son, Scott. He is also survived by his brother, David; several cousins; and seven nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary.

Calling hours and funeral services will be held at a later date and will be announced by the family. Condolences for the Bassler family may be left at www.michaelebrownfuneralservices.com.
