Florence A. Finn Gilmore passed away peacefully Saturday, June 20, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Troy, New York, in 1930, she lived a remarkable life defined by devotion to her family, strength of character, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved.

Florence was the beloved daughter of George Henry Finn and Genevieve Spenard Finn. Raised in Troy, she developed a deep appreciation for family, community, and the values that would guide her throughout her life. She graduated from St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, NY and, in 1951, married Owen J. Gilmore of Troy, New York.

As a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Florence's greatest joy came from time spent with her eight sons and their families. She possessed a warm heart, a gentle spirit, and a gift for making everyone feel welcome.

Florence was also an integral part of the family's entrepreneurial success. Alongside her husband and sons, in 1964 she helped establish Johnny Appleseed Farm which over time became a destination known throughout the Northeast. In later years, she continued to share her creativity and business acumen through The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed, where her eye for design and welcoming personality left a lasting impression on customers and friends alike.

Having witnessed nearly a century of change, Florence met life's challenges with grace, resilience, and optimism. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Owen J. Gilmore, and by two sons, Owen P. Gilmore and Daniel A. Gilmore. She is survived by her six sons, Chris (Susan Stratton), Greg, Brian, Shawn (Theo), Mark (Sharon) and Pat (Erica); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory and carry forward the legacy of love, kindness, and perseverance that defined her life.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers, friends, and loved ones whose compassion, friendship, and support enriched Florence's life and brought comfort to her in her final years. Though she will be deeply missed, Florence's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.

A private service will be held at a later date. Condolences for the family may be shared at www.michaelebrownfuneralservices.com
