Obituary

Frances C. Coventry, 99, of Minoa died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. She was born on March 10, 1914 in Johnstown, PA, the fifth child and only daughter of the late Harry and Anna Cupp. Raised with four older brothers, she learned to stand up for herself, be strong and independent, and tease and kid as well as they did. Politics, painting, and bridge were her passions. She studied art in Johnstown and at the U. of Bridgeport in CT and was active in the Milford Art League. Her painting, etchings, and woodcarvings adorned the walls of her apartment. Political passions were ignited in Fairfield, CT when she ran for first selectman, and continued unabated until her death. She was a regular and respected bridge player at the Manlius and Fayetteville Senior Centers. Surviving are her children, Edward D. (Jennifer) of New Bern, NC, Larry D. of Fairfield, CT and Sandra Palmer (Jeff), of Cazenovia, step-children Laurie and Doug, six grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be private.
