Obituary

George E. Oughterson, 88, of Perryville, died Friday at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Syracuse. George was born in Oneida on February 24, 1925 and was a graduate of Oneida City High School. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and was a survivor of the Normandy Invasion where he received the Purple Heart. He retired from Oneida Limited where he worked for 42 years. George is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Myrtle Ruth Smith Oughterson. Surviving are his children, George (Sue) Oughterson of Delaware and Lori (Jim) Holmes of New Woodstock; his brother Donald of Lawrenceville; his grandchildren, Wendy, Matt, Paul, Tina, Jesse, Blake and Niki; numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11am Friday at Tait Funeral Home, Inc., 2333 Fenner Road in Cazenovia. Spring burial will be in Stockbridge Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Madison County Office for the Aging, Inc., 138 Dominic Bruno Blvd., Canastota, NY 13032.
