Obituary

Grey Barr died peacefully surrounded by family at his home on Thursday, April 25, 2013. He was a long time resident of Cazenovia and will be missed by many. Grey was born the youngest of four children in Syracuse to Eva M. and Harry Barr on December 20, 1929. In 1952, Grey, along with his step-father and step brother, ventured into the restaurant business culminating in 66 years as a family owned and operated restaurant known as the Brae Loch Inn. A Scotsman to the hilt, he was a lover of golf belonging to the League of the Iroquois and a longtime member of Seven Oaks Golf Course. Grey was a 50 year member of the Masons in good standing, on the Food Advisory Committee at Morrisville College, and a Board of Directors member at Cazenovia College where he received an Honorary Degree. Grey is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris L. Barr, 6 children, Timothy G. & Terri Barr, Sandra B. & Parnell Hughes, Suzanne L. Barr, Bobbie B. & Steven G. Pappas, Lori B. & David L. Miller, and James G. and Valerie A. Barr; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A private memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations in Grey's name aka, the Silver Scot may be made to CazCares, Cazenovia Volunteer Fire Department, or CAVAC.
