Dr. Harold Christian Schaefer, Jr., 64, of Brooklyn, New York passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in Cazenovia, New York. Harold was born February 21, 1960 in Brooklyn to Harold C. and Louise R. Schaefer. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Friends School, Hobart College and S.U.N.Y. Downstate College of Medicine. Harold was licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey and New York. His primary focus as a physician was wholistic medicine as well as consulting with insurance companies and serving community clinics in Brooklyn and Manhattan. He was known for his incredibly kind heart and had a passion for counseling people to quit smoking. Harold enjoyed all sports, sports statistics and playing basketball. He is survived by his mother, Louise Schaefer of Cazenovia; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Merilee Schaefer of Rutherford, NJ and by his niece, Alyssa. Harold was predeceased by his father, Dr. Harold C. Schaefer and by his brother, Robert Andrew Schaefer. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 10 Mill Street in Cazenovia.
