Helen E. Odell, 98, of Erieville passed away peacefully Friday, May 1, 2026 at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville. She was born December 25, 1927 to Leonard and Beulah Webster in Cazenovia and was a graduate of Cazenovia High School in 1945. Helen attended C.C.B.I. and was a part time waitress at the Brae Loch Inn for 10 years. She was the Town Clerk for the Town of Nelson for 10 years before accepting a position as a secretary at S.U.N.Y. Morrisville where she retired after 30 years of service. Helen was a member of the Nelson United Methodist Church, the Erieville United Methodist Women, the Cornell Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards and dining out with her family and friends.
Helen is survived by her sons, Andrew (Terry) Odell of North Carolina and Jerome (Jodi) Odell of Colorado; her grandchildren Jennifer Tainter of Erieville, James McCarthy of Canastota, Christopher (Sue) Odell of Erieville, Kelly (Karsten) Fynboe of North Carolina, Jeremy (Laura) Odell of Dannemora, Taylor (Ellen) Odell of Texas, Elyse Odell of Texas, and Jenna Odell of Illinois; her sister-in-law Christabelle Westcott of Erieville; 13 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and special cousins. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Norman Gilbert Odell; her daughter, Anita E. McCarthy; her sister, Juanita Woodworth; her brother, Harold L. Webster and by her grandson, Jackson Odell.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2026 with Eastern Star and funeral services to follow all at the Nelson United Methodist Church, 3333 US Route 20, Cazenovia. Burial will be in Erieville Cemetery with a reception to follow. Contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to the Erieville Fire Department, P.O. Drawer D., Erieville, NY 13061.
