Obituary

James L. Bateman August 17, 2015 James L. Bateman, 50, of Orange, Virginia formerly of Fulton, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015. He was born in Fulton, a son to the late, Leonard and June Bateman, and graduated from G. Ray Bodley High School. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years where he earned the rank of Lance Corporal and was stationed overseas. In 1991, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and then into the U.S. Army Reserves. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Eric, who died in 2007. James is survived by his wife of five years, Christina Bateman of Orange, Virginia; three sisters, Cheryl Bateman of Fulton, Lynne Ryder of Fulton, Jeannine Rammage of North Carolina; five brothers, Jeff of Fulton, Keith of Fulton, Martin of Baltimore, MD, Timothy of North Carolina and Kris of Fulton; his only surviving aunt, Bernice Bateman of Minetto as well as several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Section 6 of St. Mary's Cemetery, South Seventh St. Fulton. Following the services, friends are encouraged to join Jim's family for a gathering at his sister Cheryl's home. Michael E. Brown Funeral Services of Cazenovia is assisting the Bateman family.
