John W. Miner, Sr., 79, of Erieville passed away peacefully Sunday evening at home surrounded by his family. John resided in many parts of the country before moving to Erieville in 1968. He was employed as a Master Plumber with Morgan Badgley which later became Donahue Electric until his retired as a supervisor. John returned to work after his retirement with Douglas Mapstone, Inc. He was the owner of Tower Mountain Salvage and enjoyed spending time at the salvage yard. John was also known for playing his guitar with the Freee Beeer Band. He was always one to offer advice, whether asked for or not and always left an impression on those he met, his family meant the world to him and he will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his companion, Patricia Marris; his seven children, Ricky (Ruth) Knight, James Miner, Carl (Elizabeth) Miner, John (Robin) Miner, Jr., Theresa (Chris Smith) Miner, Joshua (Jesica) Miner and Sarah Miner; his siblings, Robert Fairrock, Patricia Dennert, Paul (Mary) Miner and Margaret Miner; 21 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Grace Muckey Miner; a daughter, Jackie Lynn Hallenbeck and by a son, Warren Miner.
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Rd., Cazenovia. There will be a Celebration of John's Life at his residence on Saturday following the calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
