Judith "Judy" Rose went into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born December 27, 1944 to Newell and Shirley Jones in Delhi, New York, a rural community, planting the seeds of country living, and meeting in early grade school, the love of her life, Fred B. Rose. They both graduated from high school in 1962, Fred pursuing a medical career and Judy, nursing. She graduated from Wilson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1967 and married Fred in 1968. Her practice of nursing for 6 years was highlighted during Fred's residency when she was a pediatric oncology nurse at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis. Throughout their blessed marriage, Judy's joy was as a homemaker and mother. She counted it a privilege to be able to use her musical gift of piano playing at her son's schools and their church throughout her years. The piano was her source of spiritual comfort and stress relief. Judy was preceded in death by her father, Newell, and by her beloved son, Fred Newell Rose. She is survived by her dear husband, Fred; miraculous son, Bill, his wife, Kelly and their children, Kameron and Kennedy all of Syracuse; her mother, Shirley Jones of Delhi, NY; one sister, Candy (Dave) Robison of San Martin, CA as well as two very special first cousins, Peggy Banta of Unadilla, NY and Connie Marcus of Utica, NY. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Pompey Community Church, 2555 Berwyn Road, Lafayette, NY. Calling hours will be held at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before the service at which time refreshments will be served. Burial will be in Fabius Evergreen Cemetery. Casual dress is requested to honor Judy and Fred's informal, country lifestyle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Rose may be made to the Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, 401 Hackensack Ave., 9th Floor, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
