Judith Anne “Judy” Davenport, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and longtime member of the New Woodstock community, passed away on October 5,2026, after a life defined by love of family, generosity, service to others, and an enduring partnership with her husband, Roger.

Judy was born on April 7, 1938. She graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy in 1955 and continued her education at CCBI, graduating in 1956.

Some of the most important chapters of Judy’s life began during her school years, when she met her high-school sweetheart, Roger Owen Davenport. The two went on to share 67 years of marriage, building a life together that became an example of lasting love and devotion to their family. Roger predeceased Judy on May 23, 2026. Throughout their many years together, Roger and Judy found happiness in the simple things: spending time with their growing family, taking Sunday drives through the countryside, attending local auctions, and simply being together. Those who knew them could often see them walking hand in hand, a small but unmistakable reflection of a love that lasted a lifetime.

Roger and Judy made their home in New Woodstock for 50 years. It was there that they raised their three children and created the home around which generations of family memories would grow. Their house was more than a place to live; it was the center of a family life they built together over decades, filled with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, celebrations, ordinary days, and countless moments that became treasured memories.

Judy had a strong commitment to her community and to helping others. From 1984 through 1998, she was a member of CAVAC. She also generously volunteered her time with the New Woodstock Historical Society, the fire department, library, American Legion, and her church. Whether through organized service or a simple willingness to help someone who needed it, Judy believed in being part of her community and giving something back.

Judy also had an entrepreneurial and creative spirit. In retirement, she owned and operated the Country Cottage Gift Shop from 2000 through 2007, an endeavor that reflected her love of people, community, and the personal connections that came so naturally to her.

Above all else, however, Judy’s greatest joy and proudest legacy was her family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roger, and by her parents, Roy B. York and Marion Fraser York.

Judy is survived by her brother, William R. York (Karen); her three children, Roger (Edward), Glenn (Michele), and Kathy (Jeff); her five grandchildren, Chad Davenport (Emily), Ty Zelinsky (Amanda), Lindsey DeLuca (Mike), Micala Zelinsky, and Timothy Davenport; and her six great-grandchildren, Rowan Zelinsky, Daisy Davenport, Bennett Zelinsky, Olivia Zelinsky, Vincenzo DeLuca, and Brooks Davenport.

To her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Judy leaves something far greater than possessions. She leaves the example of a life spent loving deeply, remaining devoted to family, helping neighbors, participating in her community, and standing beside the person she loved for nearly seven decades.

The loss of Judy comes only months after the passing of Roger, bringing to a close a remarkable love story that began when they were young and continued through 67 years of marriage. Yet for their family, the story of Roger and Judy does not end here. It lives on in their children and grandchildren, in the home and traditions they created, in countless family stories, and in every memory of the two of them together — especially those quiet moments when they could be seen walking side by side, holding hands.

Judy will be remembered for her kind heart, her devotion to Roger, her fierce love for her family, her generosity towards her community, and the warmth she brought to the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

In keeping with Judy’s wishes, she donated her body to medical science, continuing her spirit of giving even after her death. There will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy’s memory to Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, New York, c/o Upstate Foundation, 750 East Adams Street, Syracuse, NY 13210. Please make the check payable to the Upstate Foundation and in the memo line indicate that it is for the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Her family will miss her beyond measure, but they will forever be grateful for the life she lived, the love she gave, and the generations of family that stand as her lasting legacy.
