Obituary

Malcolm E. Heffernan, 87, of Manlius, died Thursday at University Hospital. Malcolm proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He continued his service through his work with the American Legion where he served as past Commander of Post 141, past Commander of Onondaga County American Legion and lifetime member of the VFW. Malcolm served his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Manlius Fire Department of which he was a lifetime member and past Assistant Chief. He formerly worked for Syracuse Rigging, and more recently was a self- employed contractor. His wife Doris predeceased him in 2011. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Crofut (Edward) of TN and Kelly Heffernan (Lucky) of Manlius; his sister, Lenora Bobbette of Fabius; brother, Charles of Georgia; his grandchildren, Melissa, Andrew, Tiffany, Taylor, Brandan and six great grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors will be at 11 AM Wednesday at White Chapel Memory Gardens. Calling hours will be from 4-7 Tuesday at the Tait Funeral Home, Inc. 2333 Fenner Road Cazenovia.
