Obituary

Marjorie Carpenter Freeborn, 96, of New Woodstock, formerly of Cazenovia, died Sunday at home. She was born in Dryden and worked in Ithaca before her marriage to Howard Freeborn in 1938, when she moved to Cazenovia. Mrs. Freeborn and her husband owned and operated Windswept Farm in Cazenovia for many years. She retired from Mulligans of Cazenovia in 1986. Mrs. Freeborn was a 50-year member of the Cazenovia Village Baptist Church and attended the New Woodstock Federated Church. She is predeceased by her husband, Howard, in 1957, and her siblings, Harland, Doris and Robert. Surviving are her children, Richard (Laurrie) of Cary, North Carolina, Barnard (Sue) of New Woodstock, Janis Ackerman (Robert) of Grosse Pointe, MI, Jo Ann Zirbel (Randy) of Madison, and Kathy Landers of Florida, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4-7 at Tait Funeral Home, Inc. 2333 Fenner Road Cazenovia. There will be a memorial service on Saturday at 11 am at the New Woodstock Federated Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Central New York.
