Patricia A. “Patsy” Hagan, 86, of Cazenovia passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Francis House in Syracuse. She was born May 24, 1940 in Canastota to Buster and Anne Danehy. Patsy was a proud graduate of Cazenovia High School class of 1958 and S.U.N.Y. Oswego where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education. Patsy’s teaching career began at the Morrisville School District followed by the Jamesville-DeWitt School District for a brief time. Patsy then accepted a position with the Cazenovia Central School District where she worked at Burton Street Elementary School for 30 years until her retirement in 2000. She loved being part of the Burton Street family and her students and colleagues were always so special to her. Patsy was an active communicant of St. James Church where she started and served on their funeral reception committee providing hospitality and a warm smile to families during difficult times.
She is survived by her daughters, Katy and Julie Hagan both of Cazenovia; her siblings, Mary Ellen Danehy, James Dugan (JoAnne) Danehy, Bill (Joan) Danehy, Suzanne Danehy, Barney (Amy) Hagan, Abbie (John) Redmond and Michael (Andrea) Hagan; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. In addition to her parents, Patsy was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Chris Hagan in 1997; her in-laws, John and Helen Hagan; her brother, Michael Danehy and by her brother in-law Peter Hagan.
Patsy’s family is forever grateful for the kind care and attention that she received during these last days, weeks and months from the wonderful staff and volunteers at Francis House, her caregivers both private and from Griswold Care Services, the incredible people from Hospice of CNY and Dr. Andrea Berg and her team.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2026 at St. James Church, 6 Green Street in Cazenovia with graveside services Friday at 2 p.m. in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2026 at St. James Church. Contributions in Patsy’s memory may be made to the St. James Church Funeral Reception Committee, 6 Green St., Cazenovia, NY 13035 or to CAVAC, 106 Nelson St., Cazenovia, NY 13035.
