Wesley A. "Rosie" Rosenberg, Sr., 87, of Manlius, passed away Sunday morning at home with family by his side. He was born in Jamesville to Arden and Edna Rosenberg and attended Jamesville schools. Wesley had been employed by Crucible Steel and delivered milk until 1966. Thereafter he was hired as a heavy equipment operator with the Town of Pompey. Following his retirement in 1996 he established Wes' Trucking hauling water to fill swimming pools. In his younger days, he raced the #20 at the Cherry Valley Motor Speedway at Lafayette in the Stock Car Division. More recently Wesley enjoyed watching Tractor Pull competitions and was known as a "Ford Man".
He is survived by his children, Wesley (Linda) Rosenberg, Jr. of Tully, Mark Rosenberg of Syracuse, Scott (Debbie) Rosenberg of Florida and Anne (Eric) Chaplin of Syracuse; his sisters, Alma (Ed) Mapstone of Manlius and Margaret Lesser of DeWitt; his brothers, Ronald Rosenberg of Camillus, Carl "Sonny" Rosenberg of North Syracuse and Gerald Rosenberg of New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and by his faithful companion, his dog Max. In addition to his parents, Wesley was predeceased by his sisters, Carol Purcell and Edna Nichols.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road, Cazenovia. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Jamesville. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the services.
